I have well-built ex-military storage cases. They are 48"x53"x21" and have hard foam inserts that can be removed or modified. These cases could be used for many things, even including a cool coffee table. They can be stored flat or on their sides and are stackable. They also have brackets on bottom of box to clip in casters to be able to roll it around.
